I just came back from writing class and it was fabulous! There are about 7 girls, plus the teacher, who is a published author. Yay! She seems really cool, like someone I could be friends with. Another girl in the class has all these connections (her husband works for Warner Media) and says that Nicole Kidman is a lesbian and has a girlfriend, and she and Tom (who is also gay, she says) were married just shy of 10 years so that under California law, their property would be split advantageously. I don't know if any of this is true or not but it's interesting. Oh, and she also says Dolly Parton is gay and Kristen Davis too (from Sex in the City). I don't know whether to believe it or not. Oh, and John Travolta too! At which point another girl piped up, "He hit on my friend in the steam room." Apparently John Travolta and Kelly Preston live in different parts of their house and there are pool boys all over the place. And Candace Bushnell and her husband have an open marriage, and Candace Bushnell is a coke fiend. Yikes!

Anyway, we'll be sharing 10 pages of our novels each week with the rest of the class. The teacher, who is also an agent, assures us that it is not impossible to get an agent - if you can write a book, you can get one, she says. So we'll see!

I henna'd my hair again just to make sure I have COMPLETE gray coverage and because T told me she lets it stay in for 3-4 hours. I only let mine stay in half an hour before. Today I let it stay in for 2 hours, at which point I had to go out and do stuff.

Also, the carrot/ginger/beet soup recipe was very good. If anyone wants it, let me know and I'll post it.

And now for the burning question...

Bdogg asks on her blog:

If you could eat only 5 things for the rest of your life, what would they be?

You're all going to think this is disgustingly healthy (or parts of it), but I will say:

dates
plums
my recipe for baked ziti
my tofu stir fry with Muenster cheese, marinara and vegetables
oatmeal made with soy milk and raisins

So that's why John & Tom weren't into me. I do not have an open marriage - it's just an accommodating one!

LOL

I can totally see Candace Bushnell as a cokehead. Did you ever watch Wickedly Perfect? She was a judge on that show.

And I've heard that stuff, too about John Travolta, but not about Nicole Kidman!! Very interesting. You need to make friends with this girl....

She has a lot of material ;)

Another girl strongly recommended "Capote," so now I need to see it!

Nope, I never saw Wickedly Perfect...what kind of show was it?

That's crazy about Nicole Kidman. The law in CA is true, although whether or not Tom divorced Nicole *because* of that law I suppose is up for debate. Doesn't really matter now that she's infinitely cooler than he is.

Yeah, I think everyone felt bad for her when they got divorced, but now they see how crazy he is and they probably think she's better off without him ;)

Oh man, Wickedly Perfect was probably the best reality show ever. It was about 12 "domestic gods and goddesses" who competed in things like tablescapes, party planning, cooking, etc. and the winner got a book deal, a show, and a regular segment on "The Early Show" on CBS. It was so catty and wonderful. I miss that show.

Sounds like an interesting class! What kind of novel are you writing?

It's about this woman who leaves her law job (that part is autobiographical, the rest is not) and is getting a divorce. She moves into her sister's basement, but then she ends up hooking up with her sister's husband. It's not finished yet.

ok, I know this post is old, but I'm catching up after my absence. My foods would be cheese, potatoes, artichokes, chocolate, and wine. I know wine is not a food, but I have to have it!
