New tank top and dessert

Here is my newest knitted tank top:



At first, I was displeased with it. I used 3 skeins left over from my sweater, but one of them had patches of discoloration, which became little grey stitches. Then I realized I could do "duplicate stitches" -- i.e., use a darning needle to put yarn over the offending stitches.

You might ask: "Why didn't you return the yarn, Bearette?"

Answer: The yarn is non-returnable after you have them spin it into a ball for you. Plus, I had already done a bunch of knitting by the time the spots appeared.

The tank top also called for crochet. The straps are chain stitch and the edges are single crochet.

Also, I had a really good dessert tonight. It was a little bowl of puff pastry, half-filled with maple almond custard (but it was vegan, so no eggs) and splashed with berries. Yum.

I'm branching out and using light green for my next piece (a shrug to wear in air-conditioning)!

And yum on the pastry! I'm sooo craving something sweet now, though. Darn you.

The most interesting one is a light green shrug - I hope to finish it over the next couple of days :) I also have a sock and hat languishing on the needles.

BC - the crochet bit? Those are just different stitches, different ways of pulling yarn loops through each other.

Vegetable personalities

At the risk that you'll all think I'm nuts...but heck. I was getting cauliflower ready for dinner and it occurred to me that vegetables have different personalities. In my mind, anyway. happy birthday e!

[Posted by Bearette's husband until she has Internet access] e was born today! 8 pounds even, a cute and healthy baby boy. He likes to stick out his tongue just a little, and move his mouth around. The hospital gave him a little white hat with a purple pom pom. Bearette is tired but happy. Pictures soon.

Eventful

A lot has happened today already. I went to meet D for lunch and along the way I spotted a Boston terrier -- one blue eye, one brown. I stooped to pat it and then I heard an ear-bruising screech!! Everyone's head whipped around. Even the dog jumped. A taxi had squealed to a halt and there was a delivery boy on its hood. Somebody yelled, "Call an ambulance!" The boy seemed fine, even hopping on his bike to finish his deliveries -- but everyone persuaded him to stay. I took out my cell phone but another woman was already giving details to 911. After the woman finished the call, I was satisfied that help was on its way, so I continued. There were a bunch of rubberneckers/supporters gathered around the boy, so he wasn't alone. The dog stayed too. I was shaken by this, of course, but then something amusing happened.
