Just when I thought I'd seen it all

I went biking on the path today...and here's the crowning crazy biker of the day. Are you sitting down?

I saw this guy weaving erratically all over the path. My first thought was: cell phone or drunk. But as I got closer, I saw that his head was tucked into his chest, with his eyes closed. You know, classic-male-relative-on-Thanksgiving pose.

But not on a La-Z-Boy. On a bike.

I said the obvious: "You shouldn't sleep on your bike!"

His head jerked up and his eyes snapped open.

Maybe he has narcolepsy.

Yikes!! I'm amazed that he was still able to keep riding, albeit erratically, while sleeping!

Once a driver in front of me fell asleep during a typical back-up in the morning rush. I waited a minute, but was afraid he'd had a heart attack or something, so I got out of my car to check on him.

Suddenly he awoke, was clearly startled to see a woman standing next to his car, and sped off, leaving me standing in the street in front of a line of honking cars.
Ack! I've never encountered that before. How on earth would a person fall asleep while biking? /boggle

Wow. Don't know what else to say about that one.

At least you called him out on it before he ran you over.

I would've thought he'd just fall over if he was actually asleep on his bike. And that would've been a little bit funny to watch. lol

I think I'd still guess that he was drunk and he was really more passed out than asleep. That is unless he had been biking for a really long time. I'd be tired too.

I saw a guy dozed off in a delivery truck at a redlight today on the West side hwy and 30th street in the left turn lane. Everyone behind him was furious and honking. My cabbie was the one who finally woke him up! Maybe it's just that kind of day.

Amy - it does inspire awe. Maybe he didn't have his eyes closed too long. Fortunately it was not a weekend, so the path wasn't too packed.
