This is how foot fetishes start.

That's what D said when I showed him my finished sock. It was a marathon! There is something exhausting yet exhilarating about making socks. And I never even liked socks before. Everyone is right...the homemade ones feel magically delicious. It's like wearing a soft, cozy mitten on your foot. What's more...it's cheaper than buying socks. The yarn I used cost $2.99 (for a huge skein). I think I have enough for several pairs of socks.

Wow, that sock looks very toasty indeed.

As for the thriftiness, it seems everything you do yourself saves money: grating your own cheese, for example, instead of buying the pre-shredded kind :) Hooray for doing things old-school.

I see Caro was right in her prediction. ;)

It's bee-yoo-ti-full! The best thing about handmade socks is you can custom fit them, so they are just as snug as you like.

That's so cool! And I'm assuming you could make them as long as you wanted, so you could have longer ones for winter? Or thigh-highs? lol

Kitkat - thanks! I like your new profile pic.

Rox - she was!

Molly - yay! My sock is a tad on the loose side, but I actually like that :) I might make the other one a bit tighter and see which is better.

Suzy - yes indeedy. I am a fan of the low sock, though :)

I LOVE cozy socks. So does Alex. The fluffier they are, the higher they fly when he tosses them into the air. :)

I'm so impressed by everything you've made. You're practically a knitting professional. New career? Maybe you could make a line of yoga knitwear, or some stylish fingerless gloves for those of us who shiver through the summer in the office air conditioning...

Liz - that's so cute! he's an endearing little guy :) i've thought about selling things, but i'm not sure if i'd enjoy the knitting as much. maybe a little website thingy someday.

Ms. L - thanks! you're right; i am ruined for store-bought socks ;)

You're an addict. Mwahahahaha.

And thigh high ones would be kinky in a strange sort of way.
