My favorite hat yet

Here's a pic of my newest and favorite hat:
I really can't recommend this pattern enough. It's "The Gilbert Family Hat" from The Yarn Girls' Guide to Beyond the Basics by Julie Carles and Jordana Jacobs. I used alpaca for the hat. It's so snuggly and warm.

Other projects in the pipeline:
  • the sweater, although the Noro Cash Iroha has not yet arrived. We ordered it from a company based in Canada. They had the best price I'd encountered, and no shipping because the order was (gulp) over $75, and no tax. So D calculated that I saved $30 by ordering from them. However, it's slow! But patience builds character.
  • a messenger bag. That's what they call it, but it looks much smaller to me. It's like a cute knit handbag.
  • Christmas presents. This knitting-Christmas-presents thing rocks...I can be done with "shopping" way ahead of time.
  • Another hat, made with two strands of wool held together. The wool is variegated, so the hat should be all sorts of interesting colors. (The basic theme is pink and purple.)
  • A ribbed scarf, because scarves are so cozy and easy to make.
I think that's it.

Look at you go! I think I'll send you some of my unfinished projects. :-)

I helped a friend make that Gilbert hat---and it was a very quick knit. If I ever get through the gazillion other projects I'm in the middle of, I'll make myself one of those hats.

All those poor naked sheep. Whole hillsides of pink barebacked sheep, because you've got a knitting jones.

You're a yarn hooligan!

Christmas presents--that's a great idea. I wish I could make stuff myself to give as gifts. In our family, we exchange ornaments, and I usually go to one of those pottery places where you get to paint the stuff. That's about as creative as I get.

With this flashback to winter weather we're having, I'm sure your hats, etc. are coming in handy!

Lisa - it was so quick! the one i'm working on now is crawling along.

BC - i know, i feel guilt about that sometimes. and barebacked alpacas, too :(

Kitkat - i'm actually hiding indoors, we got a monsoon today! the ornaments sound like a cool idea.

I think I'll try that pattern for my first hat. It looks a lot easier than most patterns I've look at.

Your family and friends are going to be soooo lucky this Christmas!

What makes that hat your favourite so far?

Already using British/Canadian spelling, huh?? ;)

I just think it's the cutest and warmest. It also feels really good.

It didn't hurt that it was quick to make :)
