Do you really want to hurt me? Do you really want to make me cry?

I'm a little mad at my local library.

They were closed today. It's not a real holiday. Feh.

Then tomorrow they don't open until TWELVE.

There's a book on the hold shelf waiting for me, and I'm currently bookless; I just finished what I was reading (A Version of the Truth by Kaufman & Mack; they also wrote Literacy & Longing in L.A....both were good.)

I don't want to go to the bookstore and get a new book when there's a free one waiting for me. Plus, the bookstore is further away. Oh, and they're closing on March 31st.

Someone is definitely out to get me...

I personally think the library needs to operate like 7-11!
We can only dream...

Definitely! They could have late-night hours with a self-checkout machine :)

I drove off to work while my husband and all of my neighbors slept in.

Maddening. And did any of them stop to think about presidents at all during their day off? Highly unlikely.

Poor Liz :) I'm sorry you didn't get it off.

What a shame that the library was closed--they could have had a Presidents Day theme for all the kids who didn't have school. What a waste. I hope you got your book today.

That is so annoying! Some places have really weird hours of operation.

Bummer! Hope you get a good book today.

K - that's a good idea.

K & E - I actually cheated and went to Barnes & Noble. I'll pick up my hold book later this week :)

Silverstar - They really do. Most days they are open at 10, but I guess Tuesday is an exception.

I go through phases... sometimes wanting to own all my books and other times being just fine with borrowing them from the library. Chris and I went to the library last week and he asked me what book I was going to get. I said I was just going to wander and pick up whatever caught my eye. He wanted to know how I would know if the book was any good. I said I didn't care... I wasn't BUYING it!

The library should definitely have late night hours... self check and self serve ice cream! ha ha! Mmmm... ice cream...

Wow, that sounds yummy :) Especially since the Ben & Jerry's near the library closed.

I'm the same...lower standards with library books...no cash involved!

But- if the library gets an after-hours self-checkout machine, there won't be any clerks there to provide rude commentary on your reading selection.

WHAT THEN?

I don't think I've ever had a library clerk make a comment about a book I was getting...
I feel bad that apparently where Liz lives, they have mean librarians. They should be grateful you are there checking out books, even if they think it is rubbish, because without you they'd be jobless!

mmm... B&J and books... what a combo!

Liz - I just wouldn't know what to do with myself ;) I could probably adjust, though :)

Tracy - they're actually rude where I live. I think they're nice where Liz lives :) Yeah, a pint of Chunky Monkey and a book sounds good right about now.
