You can't stop the beat

We saw Hairspray. I know, I see too many movies. But the air conditioning is so enticing. Plus, it looked good.

It was such a fun movie. Tracy Turnblad, the main character, was bursting with energy. The cast was jam-packed with entertaining people -- Christopher Walken, Queen Latifah, John Travolta in very convincing drag, and Michelle Pfeiffer in a Cruella-de-Ville type role.

We saw it in a theater with slightly uncomfortable seats, so my butt was hurting near the end, and the integration/we-all-belong message was a little heavy-handed, but otherwise, I have no complaints. Just a sneaking suspicion that John Travolta looks better in a dress and high heels than I do ;)

I'm glad to hear it was good. I want to see it, but somehow, I don't see the husband agreeing to that. Maybe I'll catch it during the week at a matinee or something.

Ricki Lake will always be my Tracy Turnblad, though :)

I never saw the original. She has a cameo in this one, though :)

Tracy reminds me sooo much of Ricki Lake. I never saw the original also. I'm really wanting to see it and Jesse said she HAS to go watch it. :)

You'll love it, it was so fun! I was actually dancing in my seat ;)

I saw the original, but I don't remember a lot about it. I was relatively young at that point. I'd like to see this one, but I'm not sure I'll be able to convince anyone else to go with me, so it might be a Suzy solo adventure. lol

Hey, happy birthday!

I can't even imagine the wait for HP at the library. I shudder at the thought.

You don't see too many movies. I think it's great.

Also, you look much better in a dress than John Travolta.

After I saw that you gave it an "A" my thought was, well she's just a really sweet person who finds it really difficult to be critical. I love folks like that and am that way myself a bit.

But then I looked at your favorite movies in your profile. Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters, Manhattan, Napoleon Dynamite, and When Harry Met Sally are 5 of my all-time favorite movies.

So I guess I'll be seeing Hairspray! Thanks! :)

Glad you like my taste in movies ;)

Do you have AC in your apartment?

We do, though it's not too strong. The movie thing happens when we're walking around, hot, after dinner. It only happens with movies we're planning to see, though. The A/C would never be the only reason ;)
