Are you ready for the socks, girls?*

*The title is a pun on a song title from an '80s movie. Do you know the song and/or the movie?

So anyway, as you might have guessed, I'm making socks.



I bought turquoise yarn because I'm sick of pink. (Jaws drop around blogland.) This little bit here will be the ribbing at the top of the sock.

In other news, my sweater yarn came today!



I didn't start it yet because I don't have the right needles. I'll get them later. In the end, it should look like this, only in pink instead of orange:



I don't know how to turn off the flash on my camera, so we'll pretend the model had a special glow. Also, to satisfy your cuteness quotient:

That colour is just glorious!

I love handknit socks. Every other kind will pale once you wear hand knit socks. You'll be ruined,lol

Molly - thanks!! I am mystified a bit with one part of the instructions (Silver's Sock Class). She says to do 20 rows (I'm using worsted weight), then says "Stop on a right-side row...so you are actually doing one less than you're supposed to." So I'll do 19 rows instead of 20...but why didn't she just say that???

Last Minute Knitted Gifts, huh? I'm so bad at that stuff that there is nothing last minute about my knitted gifts.....because I would never finish it.

At the risk that you'll all think I'm nuts...but heck. I was getting cauliflower ready for dinner and it occurred to me that vegetables have different personalities. In my mind, anyway. happy birthday e!

[Posted by Bearette's husband until she has Internet access] e was born today! 8 pounds even, a cute and healthy baby boy. He likes to stick out his tongue just a little, and move his mouth around. Eventful

A lot has happened today already. I went to meet D for lunch and along the way I spotted a Boston terrier -- one blue eye, one brown. I stooped to pat it and then I heard an ear-bruising screech!! Everyone's head whipped around. Even the dog jumped. A taxi had squealed to a halt and there was a delivery boy on its hood. Somebody yelled, "Call an ambulance!" The boy seemed fine, even hopping on his bike to finish his deliveries -- but everyone persuaded him to stay. I took out my cell phone but another woman was already giving details to 911. After the woman finished the call, I was satisfied that help was on its way, so I continued. There were a bunch of rubberneckers/supporters gathered around the boy, so he wasn't alone. The dog stayed too. I was shaken by this, of course, but then something amusing happened.
