Finished!

So I finished my scarf. Here it is:

If you look closely, you can see a little brown dog in the background, wearing a red bandana. The dog looks very similar to my childhood dog, who used to wear that bandana. We call her Pepper II.

Thanks! I'm totally obsessed. I'm now finishing up the one we started in class, and I bought a bunch of knitting books.

Looks nice! I'm still working on getting the right tension on my stitches. I've been working on it all weekend and keep undoing and starting over. I'm determined though!

Thanks! i found out a nice way to wear scarves...after taking the pics ;) i wonder if learning to crochet first makes knitting harder or easier. my knitting teacher does both, and says knitting is harder on the brain but easier on the hands. did you find that to be true?

wow! I'm so impressed and inspired. It is so pretty! There's a knitting shop by my office...maybe I'll see what they have.

Thanks, all! I wonder which knitting shop it is?

My aunt had a dog named Pepper, too. Not Pepper II...bad joke. Anyway, the scarf looks really good. Amazing how quickly we can learn if we want to, isn't it?

That sounds about right. Crocheting goes really fast for me, but I've been doing it since I was probably 8 or 9. If you're making a large project, your hand that holds the hook can get pretty sore if you don't take enough breaks. I've already noticed that knitting feels easier on the hands but harder to get right. I haven't figured out yet how to fix missed stitches without ripping out a whole bunch. Crocheting seems easier to catch mistakes and then fix them. I suppose it might get easier with time and practice (I hope!).

I think if you miss a stitch, you can unravel a row and try to get the loops back on...though it's tricky. I got some knitting books that seem to have a lot of advice (though I can't use it all yet) - one was the Knitters' Answer Book by Margaret Radcliffe...it does seem to have an answer to everything.

Tres Chic!

Pepper is also the name of a family friend's dog. She's black and has wispy tendrils on her feet just like the Grinch's dog:)
