Girls just want to have fun

D and I just finished watching Girls Just Want to Have Fun (yes, it's a movie and not just a song! Liz mentioned it a while back and it sparked my curiosity). I miss the '80s; they were full of fun, goofy movies where everybody wore pink and danced around. This one starred Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. D thought SJP's nose looked better then. I agree, but her eyebrows look better now. It is a sad fact that one's nose grows throughout life.

I took melatonin last night because I was teaching early this morning, and I dreamed that Jim from The Office was pursuing me. Maybe I should take melatonin more often ;)

I'm concerned about your insomnia, Bearette. Just out of curiousity, have you talked to an MD?

That movie is lots of silly fun. Every scene is filled with melodramatic goodness. :)

at - thanks for thinking of me. i don't think it's a medical problem though. for one thing, d has the same issue, so it probably has a lot to do with the fact that we don't have a set wakeup time. also, my mom says i have never required much sleep, and points out that when i had to wake up at 6 am (for my first job out of college), my insomnia vanished. but do i want to wake up at 6 am now? no way :)

liz - wasn't it? i actually added it to my favorite movies list (in my blogger profile) :)

SJP kind of annoys me sometimes, but I'll still check out the movie when I get the chance. :)

I should watch it again this weekend (as a refresher) and then we can have a GJWTHF quote-off. ;)

Suzy - me too. I found her annoying in The Family Stone, but not in this movie or Failure to Launch.

Liz - hee. A dance-off might be in order as well ;)

You will be no match for my professional moves! (says the girl who tried to breakdance and ended up with rug burns on her neck)

Isn't New York the city that never sleeps?

Maybe that's your problem.

Or maybe you could teach midnight yoga class. Aren't their any yoga night owls?

"Aren't there?" Ugh.

liz - you might beat me anyway :)

Lisa - i know, huh?? it turns out he went to my school, so maybe i'll see him at reunions. *sigh*

kj - maybe you are exempt!

C - it is the city that never sleeps. except maybe at 9 am on a sunday (when i taught yesterday). the streets were pretty dead then. i know of one studio that has a midnight class, but the class already has a teacher. don't know how much energy i'd have to teach then anyway...

I'll definitely have to check this one out. I don't want to miss out on the quote off and especially the dance off. You better watch out ladies, I can really bust a move! (don't be too afraid. I'm just bluffing.)

When I was in high school, a friend and I stayed up really late one night and found Girls Just Want to Have Fun on. I had never seen it before nor since, but it's something that has stayed with us forever. Looks like we weren't alone!

Nothing like cheesy, before-they-were-stars movies.

Rox - you're a contender!

C - nothing to worry about!

Kitkat - i couldn't agree more.

GJWtHF is one of my all-time favorite movies. I used to watch it all the time on VHS as a kid. I even own the VHS version as an adult because it wasn't in DVD form when I asked for it for Christmas.

I. LOVE. THAT. MOVIE! I have it on old school VHS baby!! The dance scene at the end..."Dancing in Heaven" well.....it's HEAVENLY! So awesome.

And whatever happened to the lead guy, do you think? He looks suspiciously like Joey Lawrence and John Cougar Mellencamp combined.

he was cute! i guess he just vanished into the ether.

i don't think our VCR even works anymore :(

Now you've got me rushing to find a mirror to check if my nose has grown! ;p

Can't wait to catch that movie. Sounds like great fun!

Where's your other post? It disappeared on me? Hmmm...anyways...I can't believe you went to naked parties? WOW! That's crazy. And the no pedicure thing...well, I just can't fathom it. GOOD LIST!
