My take on Clerks II

So D and I saw Clerks II tonight. It was a rare case of the sequel outshining the original. Then again, I don't remember much about Clerks, except that it was in black and white, there was a girl who, um, liked Dante a lot, and the line: "I wasn't supposed to be here today."

This movie was a lot better and funnier, though equally crude. It's also the first movie I've seen featuring "interspecies erotica". (Don't worry, there's a mitigating, humorous twist.) It was also, in its odd way, a feel-good movie, and kind of sweet. So you should see it.

Did I mention I'm getting kind of sick of my book? I'm going to edit it tomorrow, but I honestly don't know how many edits I've got left in me.

Espresso Tales by Alexander McCall Smith (sequel to 44 Scotland Street)
and that's it.

I'm a bit curious about Clerks II -- it seems to me Kevin Smith peaked with Chasing Amy... (But given your rec, I'll keep an open mind!)

I've never seen the original Clerks, but want to sometime because of all the good buzz (which is now 10 years old).

Isn't it so much fun to use gift certificates at B&N? :)

ashley - it was really fun. maybe a bit crude for some, but good. i actually never saw chasing amy...

elsa - it's SO much fun. now i have a borders one to use. there are fewer borders in manhattan, though.

Vegetable personalities

At the risk that you'll all think I'm nuts...but heck. I was getting cauliflower ready for dinner and it occurred to me that vegetables have different personalities. In my mind, anyway. The return of Rudolph

Rudolph is our small furry friend, whom I've never seen. He visited the kitchen last night while D was up late. I know this because: 1) A large sonic device is plugged in right in front of the crack between the oven and the wall. The sonic devices in the living room have kept Rudolph away from there, his previous hideaway. Apparently the cracks between appliances and the wall are harder to reach. 2) The mop has been moved from the hall closet to the kitchen closet. This means D tried to capture Rudolph. 3) A turtle magnet I haven't seen in a while is now on the fridge. That means it fell behind the oven and D found it during his interactions with Rudolph. (I am praying hard that Rudolph is a boy, since we don't want to find many small Rudolphs.) What makes me feel better about this whole thing is that mice are apparently everywhere this winter; even my brother has had problems with them. happy birthday e!

[Posted by Bearette's husband until she has Internet access] e was born today! 8 pounds even, a cute and healthy baby boy. He likes to stick out his tongue just a little, and move his mouth around. The hospital gave him a little white hat with a purple pom pom. Bearette is tired but happy. Pictures soon.
