So I'll be making the cardigan that I linked to in my last post, but I'll be using Cascade 220 instead of Blue Sky Alpacas Cotton. I don't really like knitting with cotton - it's kind of stiff and unforgiving. And I'll be making the cardi in a small, not an extra-small. Hopefully it won't be boxy. I just can't envision squeezing into an extra-small.

I considered making the cardigan in Malabrigo worsted, but there was one skein less than I needed. The Cascade was considerably cheaper, anyway. And the cashier (whom I think is also the owner - just a hunch) said she thought it would wear better. Something to do with the ply. I also bought some Madeline Tosh hand-dyed yarn for a hat.

Then I picked up a book called Love in Mid Air - about two people who fall in love on an airplane, with obstacles of course. It looks interesting.

no, it will actually be pink. it's the only color they had 4 skeins of in that yarn...plus, i love pink as everybody knows.

That's a cute sweater! I'm not brave enough yet to make sweaters, but I'm sure I'll try it eventually. I just feel like I need more practice with other stuff first.

There's a vest I want to knit that calls for Cascade 220. Let us know how you like the yarn! Can't wait to see the finished product.

I've used it before. It can be a little bit scratchy, but I figure this cardi isn't worn right next to the skin, so it should be okay. I think it's a good choice for large projects, because there's a lot of yardage per skein and it's not too expensive.

Vegetable personalities

At the risk that you'll all think I'm nuts...but heck. I was getting cauliflower ready for dinner and it occurred to me that vegetables have different personalities. In my mind, anyway. The return of Rudolph

Rudolph is our small furry friend, whom I've never seen. He visited the kitchen last night while D was up late. I know this because: 1) A large sonic device is plugged in right in front of the crack between the oven and the wall. The sonic devices in the living room have kept Rudolph away from there, his previous hideaway. Apparently the cracks between appliances and the wall are harder to reach. 2) The mop has been moved from the hall closet to the kitchen closet. This means D tried to capture Rudolph. 3) A turtle magnet I haven't seen in a while is now on the fridge. That means it fell behind the oven and D found it during his interactions with Rudolph. (I am praying hard that Rudolph is a boy, since we don't want to find many small Rudolphs.) What makes me feel better about this whole thing is that mice are apparently everywhere this winter; even my brother has had problems with them. And this little guy seems to stay behind the oven and only appears around 4 am (only D

happy birthday e!

[Posted by Bearette's husband until she has Internet access] e was born today! 8 pounds even, a cute and healthy baby boy. He likes to stick out his tongue just a little, and move his mouth around. The hospital gave him a little white hat with a purple pom pom. Bearette is tired but happy. Pictures soon.
