So E went to the pediatrician today. I'm getting the hang of putting the car seat into taxis - and of course, the magic words are, "You can start the meter." E was very good at the doctor's until he got his shots - diphtheria, polio and meningitis, I think - then his face turned red and he screamed. I was able to nurse him with my handy nursing cover in the waiting room, and that seems to be a cure for all ills.

Which brings me to another point - the doctor thinks he should only be getting up once a night (sleeping 3-hour stretches consistently, instead of 1 3-hour stretch followed by 2-hour stretches). She said I should put him in the crib, after making sure he is changed and fed, and let him get to sleep on his own - even if he cries. I don't know if I can do that.

He weighs 13 pounds and 12 ounces!

everyone will tell you different things - i can tell you Q's schedule at 6 months if that helps: he goes to bed at 8ish. up again approx. 4-5 hours later (12 or 1), up again around 3, then up for the day at 630-7ish. during the day he sleeps 2-3 times, an hour in the morning, several hours in the afternoon, sometimes a catnap in late afternoon. he's up about two hours in between each nap. at night I nurse him back to sleep when he wakes up. he also sleeps in my bed if I am really tired. take that for whatever it's worth. i did the same thing with Terzo and did the crib thing with Primo - this is easier on me.

You are his mom, you know in your heart what he needs. Let a doctor guide you, but you're his parent so you're the final judge. Don't be afraid to go "against" the doctor if it feels right. :)

I never could let my kids cry it out either.

E gets cuter every day. I wish I did.

E is only 2 months old. IMHO, and without being in your shoes, I think that being left to cry it out is a bit much at such a young age.

Kids are all different. One formula will not work for everyone. Trust yourself and do what is best for you guys.:)

Yeah, I wasn't able to do it. After trying the crib, I brought him to bed with us, we all slept and nobody cried.

The return of Rudolph

Rudolph is our small furry friend, whom I've never seen. He visited the kitchen last night while D was up late. I know this because: 1) A large sonic device is plugged in right in front of the crack between the oven and the wall. The sonic devices in the living room have kept Rudolph away from there, his previous hideaway. Apparently the cracks between appliances and the wall are harder to reach. 2) The mop has been moved from the hall closet to the kitchen closet. This means D tried to capture Rudolph. 3) A turtle magnet I haven't seen in a while is now on the fridge. That means it fell behind the oven and D found it during his interactions with Rudolph. (I am praying hard that Rudolph is a boy, since we don't want to find many small Rudolphs.) What makes me feel better about this whole thing is that mice are apparently everywhere this winter; even my brother has had problems with them. happy birthday e!

[Posted by Bearette's husband until she has Internet access] e was born today! 8 pounds even, a cute and healthy baby boy. He likes to stick out his tongue just a little, and move his mouth around. The hospital gave him a little white hat with a purple pom pom. Bearette is tired but happy. Pictures soon.
