Tuesday twelve

1. I'm copying Lisa.
2. It's always kind of stressful for me to do it on Thursday, because it's my busiest day of the week, teaching-wise.
3. I like kids' Halloween customes the most.
4. I say this because there were a bunch of blonde-wigged people (one definitely male, the others probably female) tottering down the street on high heels. The one who was definitely male shook his fist at someone nearby and bellowed, "If you're gonna look at me, bitch, at least be nice!" Ooh-kay.
5. On the other end of the spectrum was an adorable little girl in striped tights and ethereal fairy wings.
6. I kinda want to see Little Children, but it's hard for me to get up the energy, especially since D doesn't want to see it.
7. It's not my favorite Tom Perrotta book, anyway; that would be The Wishbones.
8. Sometimes I miss being 9.
9. On Sex and the City, Samantha seems a bit like a drag queen to me.
10. A friend recommended Coupling (the British version) but it's on Friday nights at 10 pm. WTF?
11. It is my firm belief that Friday night is the sinkhole of network television; to wit, the Anne Heche show about stealing trees or something.
12. I'm looking forward to the new Will Ferrell movie.

The first three seasons of Coupling are out on DVD. Definitely worth renting.

And I agree, costumes are best on kids. Then it's still about make-believe and fun and innocent play.

Did you see the episode of SATC with the drag queen who called himself Samantha?

I've had one trick or treater tonight and I wasn't impressed. However, I saw this kid at the fall carnival on Friday that was so cute. She was dressed up as an old lady with a cane. She even had wrinkles on her face and everything. I was afraid to take her picture though.

Lisa - i'll have to check it out! maybe they even have them at the library.

zen master - i didn't see it, but it sounds funny ;) we didn't get *any* trick or treaters. then again, we have no little kids in our building. i wish we did.

I'm beginning to wonder if kids go trick or treating anymore. I drove from ABQ out to my house which is an hour drive, the last of it through residential areas, and did not see a single trick or treater.

I did see adults dressed up though. It was strange.

I've posted my kitties in their halloween costumes.

We got a smattering of trick-or-treaters. The cutest was the two year old dressed as a duckling. My neighbor, who just had her third baby a MONTH ago, hand-made costumes for her kids: Pebbles, Bam-bam, and Dino. Pebbles even had a bone in her hair (not a real one). :)

Have you seen Marie Antoinette? It looked like a feast for the eyes!

Also- we've been renting Big Love. I like it!

Zen - i'll have to see those!

liz - that sounds adorable! i should have so much energy ;) i haven't seen marie antoinette...we were underwhelmed by kirsten dunst in "wimbledon" and haven't gone to her movies since. the big exception is spiderman, which i love. i have to see "big love" - everyone has recommended it. we don't have premium cable, but i think the dvd is coming out soon.

Silly me, of course it's out b/c you're renting it ;)

Have you seen the SNL skit where Christina Aguilera is playing Samantha and she reveals that she's really a "dude?" It's quite hilarious despite how stupid it might sound.

I saw a blog with "TMI Tuesdays" and I was thinking I'd steal that--give a too-much-info fact each week.
Bearette said…
yes, i thought that was hilarious...she said in a throaty voice, "I was always a private dick." Sometimes SNL is really funny in a silly way.

Rude guy dressed in drag (although it WAS for Halloween).....sounds like NYC to me!

Our city has different trick or treat times for the different neighborhoods/townships. It sucks. Our time was Sat. 5-7pm and it was stormy and sleeting. :(

When we moved to New Hampshire, our town did trick-or-treating on the night before Halloween. We were new to the area and missed it completely, so my mom asked some neighbors if she could bring us around on Halloween night for some leftover candy.

We never knew it was a set-up. :)

Roxanne - yeah, it was not one of the better NY moments ;) though i backed away from him when he got rambunctious, and he seemed to calm down then. too bad about the weather...were you able to go out with the kids at all?

Liz - i'm glad you got your treats ;) and it was clever of your mom.

I don't miss being nine, but I'd take twenty-one again. I'd be smart enough to stay unencumbered this time. :P

Once I went with some male friends to a gay bar. Somebody drove by in a car and yelled at me, "I know you're a drag queen!"

samantha would be very offended to hear this kind of talk from you, bearette. i have all 6 (?) years of satc and i can assure you, except for a short lesbian fling with maria somebody, she remained her hot self till the end....

Steve - see, 10 is where it all went downhill for me ;) That was the awkward childhood-teenage transition year for me...I matured early, what can i say ;)

kj - but she has that breathy, campy voice...very drag queen...
Roxanne said…
Carolyn- Sorry, but that drag queen comment is too funny!

Bearette- We weren't planning on taking the kids out this year. Jesse was looking forward to handing out candy and was disappointed when the storm came through. She did get to go to a "Boo Fest" that was put on by a local church. She dressed as a female vampire.

I am also looking forward to the new Will Ferrell movie - definitely not his usual stuff, but it looks great.

Carolyn - i wonder why they thought that??!

Roxanne - cool; i like vampires ;)

Amy - i think it will be really good, i like emma thompson and maggie gyllenhaal (who are in it too).
