So I started reading David Sedaris's new book, and it was funny enough to make me forget to take a shower. (Don't worry, I took one yesterday.) Have you ever noticed that ever since James Frey's fake memoir debacle, memoirists seem to be required to put in a little note about the book's authenticity or lack thereof? Well, Sedaris's note reads: "The events in this book are realish."

I don't envy your heat wave right now. I'm happy with cloudy and a high of about 60 F compared to that!

I never read James Frey's book. I've never really understood why he wasn't just honest about it all from the beginning. I guess he just wanted to sell more books.

Probably!

Yes, the heat wave is nothing to envy. You are lucky to be in Canada :)

I'm on the waiting list for the Sedaris book. :)

Re: the heat wave... my face nearly melted off in the 30 seconds it took to walk from the building to my car today. I wish I could take the Slip n' Slide home.

also- Frey's newest has gotten good reviews. It's fiction, like his first, but it's actually marketed as such. ;)

I think it's his best so far. Almost every essay has made me laugh out loud!

The heat is a little scary, isn't it?

I peeked at the Frey book at Borders a while back...not sure if I will read...if you do, let me know what you think...
