So I went shopping today! One item has to remain a secret for now (I'll explain later). I got the following books at The Strand:
(Did I mention that I love The Strand? Half price or lower on every book, and they get stuff early. Heaven.)
Stupid and Contagious by Caprice Crane (despite negative title, looks like a fun book with many '80s references)
Finishing Touches by Deanna Kizis
The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty
The Right Fit by Sinead Moriarty (about adopting a Chinese baby girl, not something I plan on doing but am nonetheless intrigued by.)

A couple of years ago I read Donorboy by Brendan Halpin. It was fiction, but it had a similar premise to The Right Fit. It's told from the perspective of an adolescent girl, Rowen, whose 2 lesbian mothers are killed when a Turducken truck tips over onto their car. Due to some strange legal fluke guardianship of Rowen falls to her biological father whose sole contribution to her life was providing the sperm. The book is at times touching and humorous.
The Right Fit is actually fiction too, though I'm pretty sure the author based a lot of it on her own experiences.

My library is being so slow with that one...not all fast & efficient like the d.c. area libraries.
Have fun with the new books.
Ditto on what Liz/Anonumous said about Digging to America - it's by Anne Tyler. I like her, but haven't read this book yet.
