So we went to the beach today. It was nice to have a break from our routine. The train was packed, filled with people who smelled like sunscreen and beer. Both E and Z loved the water, and Z loved the sand as well. She kept trying to eat it, and laughing when I tried to stop her. For dinner we had quesadillas that we ate on the beach, plus a bit of rose wine.

which beach? that sounds lovely. the beach is the best place for kids. they are happy there for the entire day with little or no outside direction....sand, water, waves, seaweed, shells, tidal pools, sand castles, moats...it's endlessly fascinating....reinforces for me the importance of kids playing in natural settings and not just playgrounds, as nice as they are around us

this was long beach (on long island, about an hour on the LIRR)...though i love coney too. speaking of parks, we might go to seal after school if you want to come...
