I think the worst part of having a baby is the sleep deprivation...I thought three months was the magic point of sleeping through the night...but the thing is, I can't always get to sleep when he does. So I've decided not to dwell on it anymore. I'll get whatever sleep I can and deal with it.

There is certainly a lot of buzz surrounding Sarah Palin...a lot of people in New York are up in arms about her, saying that no matter what she does, others think she walks on water. I do find her charismatic and interesting despite her craziness (banning books, etc.). I can't get too worked up about her pro-lifeness since I am that odd contradiction, a pro-lifer who votes pro-choice (figuring it's other women's business what they do). I would like to have a Democratic president in office, but I just don't think Obama will win.

and I can't see McCain winning, but I thought the same about Gore and then Kerry...

take him to bed with you. you will sleep so much longer. they usually don't voluntarily sleep through, either. once they double their birthweight, they CAN sleep thru but you almost always have to do sleep training. I'm sorry.

lol :) he does do 6 & 6 1/2 hr stretches, but they start around 8 or 9 pm - often too early for me to go to sleep.

for some reason it's harder for me to sleep in the same bed w/ him now that he's bigger. i do it sometimes, though.

we did 1 night of sleep training a while back and since then he usually sleeps 6 hrs straight as long as he's well fed...but 8 hrs are my dream...

I heard someone else today say the same thing about thinking Obama probably won't win. I think he has a better shot at winning than Kerry did. I sure hope he does.

Oh, and speaking of, I have to make a plug for FactCheck.org. I wish more people knew about it.

Well, if the idea is you vote for whom you want to win, not whom you think will win. And if I'm reading these southerly wins right, McCain is going in to this campaign as the walking wounded. And I'm not seeing Palin as his lifebuoy.

But then, I'm Canadian, and while we tend to follow American politics as closely as--if not more closely than--our own, I'm not sure I have the right to broadcast my opinion on the matter.

As for taking pics of baby, I was the 'official' (in that I occupied and amused myself) photographer at my little nephew's christening, and I got maybe two pictures out of twenty where he is in focus. Maybe.

And, naturally, those two photos where he is in focus, no one else is.

At the risk that you'll all think I'm nuts...but heck. I was getting cauliflower ready for dinner and it occurred to me that vegetables have different personalities. In my mind, anyway. happy birthday e!

[Posted by Bearette's husband until she has Internet access] e was born today! 8 pounds even, a cute and healthy baby boy. He likes to stick out his tongue just a little, and move his mouth around. The hospital gave him a little white hat with a purple pom pom. Bearette is tired but happy. Pictures soon.

Eventful

A lot has happened today already. I went to meet D for lunch and along the way I spotted a Boston terrier -- one blue eye, one brown. I stooped to pat it and then I heard an ear-bruising screech!! Everyone's head whipped around. Even the dog jumped. A taxi had squealed to a halt and there was a delivery boy on its hood. Somebody yelled, "Call an ambulance!" The boy seemed fine, even hopping on his bike to finish his deliveries -- but everyone persuaded him to stay. I took out my cell phone but another woman was already giving details to 911. After the woman finished the call, I was satisfied that help was on its way, so I continued. There were a bunch of rubberneckers/supporters gathered around the boy, so he wasn't alone. The dog stayed too. I was shaken by this, of course, but then something amusing happened.
