You know, I think Facebook is killing Blogger. Most of the people who were blogging when I started have stopped. But I am going to try to hang in here. So, in honor of all you bloggers who may or may not be reading, here is a recipe:

Black Bean Chili (from Vegetarian Times)
2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
1 bunch scallions
10-oz bag frozen sweet corn
salt to taste
roasted garlic salsa (I highly recommend Trader Joe's brand. It is good enough to eat out of the jar.)

Combine the beans, scallions and salsa in a large saucepan or wok over medium heat. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the cover, add the salt and corn, and cook until heated through.

You can sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack on top if you want.

Very easy and very good.

Right now I'm reading my first Aunt Dimity book. It's a mystery series, set in England, and quite cozy. I like it, although it is slightly slow-paced.

This looks good!. I don't think FB is taking over.. Its just the time of the year.. I remember the past years when I was on 360, about this time and all the way till first part of the new year, things slowed down.. People get into the season/holidays..

While it is true I've stopped blogging, I haven't given it up for Facebook. I just stopped blogging.

I'm not even on Facebook, Twitter or MySpace. I'm too anti-social for these new-fangled 'social' media sites, and think Facebook in particular is being taken over by commercialism.

Thank you for supporting blogging! I have finally joined Facebook but I still prefer reading blogs. Maybe I don't understand Facebook properly, but I can't make sense of all the posts and comments seemingly in random order, and they aren't as thoughtful and well written as blogs tend to be.
I think using Facebook is just lazier than taking the time to write an interesting blog post.
(by the way, this is Judy in KY... I just forgot to sign into Blogger this morning)

Agreed, it is lazier/easier, and i think that's why it's become more appealing to many...

Yes, it does feel a bit like I'm one those of weirdo luddites for still clinging to blogging. I occasionally post links to my blog on FB hoping to generate more readers, but that doesn't seem to work (except when I give away stuff). Still, I really enjoy writing for my current blog.

Thanks for the recipe. It sounds great!

I still read your blog and many others in Google Reader. in my case, I think having a toddler killed my blog. :)

Fair enough :)

Facebook really annoys me sometimes...I got an email from my cousin about an Uggs event, and when I opened it, it apparently sent an Uggs invite to everyone I know.
