Inside man

We saw Inside Man last night and it was pretty good. I'd give it an A-, while D gave it a B+ or B++. It was a fun little puzzle of a movie. It was a little too violent for me, but there's a twist that mitigates the violence. (I hope I haven't given anything away.) I thought it was well-written, well-casted, all that jazz.

We just barely watched 40 Year-Old Virgin. Pitiful, huh?

Inside Man has Jodie Foster, Denzel Washington, and Clive Owen in it...one of those bank heist movies with hostages and a twist.

Cool, I just added it to our Netflix queue. :)

Carolyn, we are frequent renters from Netflix so they throttle our receipt of new movies, so we just barely got 40 Year-Old Virgin!!! It was a great movie, I thought. :)

Carolyn: don't stress...most movies come out really late here in Japan - I still haven't seen any of the Oscar nominated movies yet! I saw the 40 year old virgin on the plane to London in January...I laughed a lot - which is not always the best thing on a plane :p

Thanks for the review of Inside Man. I saw Clive Owen being interviewed on The Daily Show this past week. He was promoting the movie. He seemed pretty engaging and Jon Stewart and he had a good repoire going. I'll put it on my list of movies to go see. I also want to go see Thank You for Smoking
- it looks like a pretty good satirical look at lobbying.

I saw the 40-Year Old Virgin and also thought it was hysterical. I love Steve Carrell and his show The Office

i saw Thank You for Smoking! some of the humor left a bad taste in my mouth but it was a well-made movie. Aaron Eckhart was very good in it.

Vegetable personalities

At the risk that you'll all think I'm nuts...but heck. I was getting cauliflower ready for dinner and it occurred to me that vegetables have different personalities. In my mind, anyway. Zucchini: the most agreeable of vegetables. It blends in with everyone, but it's never obsequious or false to itself. Sweet potatoes: the grandmother of vegetables. Very cozy and welcoming. Odds and ends

Hello, blog world. I guess there was a little decrease in excitement after seeing Madonna...but I will see what I can come up with for you. PUPKIN. Pupkin is a small dog, very feisty and cute, that I have fallen in love with. She lives at Groom-a-Rama, a pet store on 6th Ave where I go to ogle the puppies in the window. Yesterday they were all exceptionally cute and I wished I had my camera. But I'm afraid the flash might freak them out anyway. Pupkin's collar says she is a female, red-brown Shorkie Tzu (after a moment's thought, I figured out she's a Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix). Pupkin is very lively; she likes to nibble the other puppies' ears and roll around with them. She also licks the inside of the window glass, trying to lick my fingers. One of those old men who likes to narrate (you know what I mean, don't you?) was standing nearby, saying, "Look at these girls who just want to sleep [indicating a pair of serene cream-colored bulldogs with beautiful eyes]....
